beavdog 0 #1 November 5, 2002 Anyone done any custom painting to a Z1? If so, what type of paint will stay best and what's the best way to do it? Here's to the Breezes that blows through the Trezzez.....
Sonic 0 #2 November 5, 2002 I just re-sprayed mine again using off the shelf car spray paint. Looks good and seems a little tougher than the original paint so far.----------------------------------- It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone
Vallerina 2 #3 November 5, 2002 I had mine airbrused by someone else. I have no idea of how to do it, but it looks great, even after a few beatings. So, you can check out his website if you'd like, and ask him how he did it! http://rodmansvisuals.tripod.com/home.htmlThere's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
Mtt481 0 #4 November 5, 2002 I custom paint skydiving helmets, motorcycle helmets, bikes and cars. The best stuff to use is actual automotive paint, ex: PPG, House of Kolor, however if you don't have any experience with painting this will prove to be a big expensive mess not to mention the hundreds even thousands of dollars in equipment just to be able to spray it. If you do spray it you will also want to then clear over the paint job with at least 2-4 coats of clear. I always use between 8-10 coats of clear on my helmets that I do for people. If you just want to spray it one color and don't really car about graphics then just go to an automotive parts store and get a can of spray laquer. Any other questions just ask. Painted mine with the Dupli-Color Mirage system (color shifting paint) just over a year ago. No problems.
freeflycracker 0 #7 November 7, 2002 Depending on what you wanted. It most likely wouldnt be that expensive to have a body shop do it for you. Ive done several with automotive paint. It works perfect. Have them put a little flex additive in the clearcoat to help with chips. Ask around your DZ if anybody works at a shop. I usually just trade jumps for it.
