blueshrew 0 #1 April 4, 2003 How would you go about positioning windblades in deep water, so that they won't move around? We've thought about several options, the best of which were to either fasten it to a wheel and sort of anchor it tightly with a rope and bucket of cement, or to fasten it to a wheel and fasten the wheel to a long pole stuck in a bucket of cement. Does anyone have experience with this? Otherwise I'm gonna have to spend a jumpable day at a boring lake with a windblade .

blueshrew 0 #3 April 5, 2003 The "problem area" varies from 2 - 8m (about 6-24 feet), I am guessing the 8 though. We're sending in some divers when it gets warmer, so that should at least be cleared up then.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 April 5, 2003 What most people use in deeper water is a round piece of styrofoam or open-cell foam. In in the center, you cut a hole big enough to either insert a piece of PVC pipe big enough to insert your airblade base, or just the airblade itself. The PVC method works fine, because you need a way to secure the thing. Drill a hole in the bottom of the PVC pipe and affix some poly-e rope. Attach the other end to a lead clump or a small bucket filled with cement. You make adjustments to the length of rope at the PVC/foam circle end. Oh yeah, the foam circles I have seen commonly used were about four inches thick and about 30 inches in diameter. Chuck
