Does VX really hard risers and shitti opened canopy?

Recommended Posts

I didn't mind the riser pressure on my VX at all, but I know people who bitch about it. I never had my VX spin on me, but I didn't like the way it surged on opening. It would sort of "jump" forward on opening. About half the time, it would do it so hard the lines would go slack. Still, I liked the main.

Did you try deepening the brakes to dampen the opening surge?

This is an honest question. That's how I would deal with it on one of my canopies, but I've never (and probably never will) jumped anything that high performance, and I was wondering if it doesn't work there for some reason.

Opening surge and forward speed are two of my personal topics of greatest interest.

i had a 72 vx, i really loved the way it flew, but i hated the openings. if you like a stiffer opening, then your would love it. the riser pressure is stiff, but it's no worse than any other cross braced that i've jumped(vx, fx, and velocity)

yes very hard riser pressure so it is good to be accurate on your set up.

Mine (VX 97) opens very soft (my FX is brisk) but it does dance around a surge forward

I've got an FX114 loaded at 1.9 and finally love the openings. Trick was to reduce my zero p pilot chute size down to 21" and the bridle to 5' (on a pull out system!).
A lot of our team guys jump VX's and would prefer my openings. They seem happier now that they are psycho-bagging them and tucking the stabilisers between the lines during packing.
Try out a few and see.
