ramon 0 #1 July 14, 2002 Any one have a good idea for swoop and chug rules that would...say add points or subtract time for length of swoop to make up for time spent getting to beer can. this is to give a fighting chance to swoopers vs the guy with the accuracy canopy that should win all hit n chugs... thanks ramon."Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce. flyhi 24 #2 July 14, 2002 How about two man teams? One jumping and one with the beer on the ground. Swoop zone is set up from line A to line B (100 feet? 150 feet, 200 feet?). Swooper must enter at Line A and swoop as far as possible. Beerman cannot enter the swoop zone, but can run past it. Points for length of swoop. Points subtracted for time from touchdown to chug and area in the zone not swooped. Examples: Swooper enters at Line A and Swoops 80 feet past line B. Beerman runs to swooper and swooper runs to Beerman to get beer. Points for full swoop. Bonus points for extra swoop distance outside of zone. Penalty points for time from TD to Chug. Swooper swoops half way through zone, Beerman cannot run into zone with beer. Points for length of swoop. Penalty points for failing to swoop entire zone. Penalty points for time from TD to chug. Would involve some strategy and possibly two jumps, with people fliflopping positions. Also a way, with one jump, to involve nonswoopers as the Beerman. Just a thought. I was bored.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
jdhill 0 #3 July 14, 2002 How 'bout a course set up leading to the beer... you have 5' gates and you get bonus seconds for every gate you pass through... the beer is the target at the end of the course... if you swoop past the beer you loose time getting back to the beer. The accuracy guy would not have the benifit of the bonus points, and a good swoop could actually result in a negative time. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. - Edmund Burke
nws01 0 #4 July 14, 2002 Skydive Orange in Virginia has the last load beer can swoop contest. When the plane leaves for the last load they set up a bunch of cheap beer in the pea gravel. They swwop and see who can knock over the most beer cans. They have good beer there too for drinking. Abuse the cheap beer and then abususe the good beer! AndyMan 7 #5 July 14, 2002 Put a pair of airblades a set distance from the can. Require the participants to pass through the airblades, and procede with an open parachute over them or behind them on their shoulder, to the beer, where they chug. They can swoop, or if they suck, can run. They're timed on the time it takes to do both. THe clock starts when they pass through the airblades. fastest distance race fastest chug fastest complete course. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. ramon 0 #6 July 15, 2002 that is a good idea but I do have to accomodate the guys that have really big canopies to make it a fun thing with lots of participation. I might actually do your suggestion with out much planning though for like 4-5 actual swoopers..."Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce. fool 0 #7 July 16, 2002 I don't know much, don't have much experience, but shouldn't the swoopers who have enough skill to fly through the airblades also know approximately how much swoop they get, and how to shut down a little early if need be? That way all you have to do is make it close to the center of the target at the end of your swoop, same as the accorracy guys.
