geanky 0 #1 July 1, 2002 1. How do you guys like your steering line setup? 2. Does your tail buck a little when using your front risers or nothing at all? 3. How far down do you pull on the toggles before your canopy stalls / collapse? 4. How high are your dive loop on the risers when compared to the position of the toggles in full flight? freeflir29 0 #2 July 1, 2002 QuoteDoes your tail buck a little when using your front risers or nothing at all? If there is any "bucking" at all your lines are too short. I find that I really can't turn very hard even with really long brake lines if I use the dive loops. I like to grab at the connector link. That usually gives me a smooth turn at just about any rate I want. The rest of the questions.......it really depends on the canopy and the pilot. I like to have a full range of motion in my arms. If I can stall the canopy hard you probably have your brakes to short. You want to have some to be able to shut the canopy down but you really don't need to be able to "bow tie" it. SkymonkeyONE 4 #3 July 1, 2002 I like my brakes very loose. I can, with my toggles in my hands, haul both dive loops all the way down to my tit level and not deflect the tail at all. With my toggles all the way up, my brake lines arc back a good deal. Not important to me at all, since flare with my hands out and back. Chuck
geanky 0 #4 July 1, 2002 So Chuck how much distance is there from the "factory" line for the toggle setting compared to where you set your toggles? learn to fly in 3d
flyhi 24 #5 July 2, 2002 Quote3. How far down do you pull on the toggles before your canopy stalls / collapse? I bought a Vengeance and found I could pull about 1/3 of the range of my arms before I got any movement. With my arms straight out, I got a good amount of flare and by bringing them down and fully extending them, I got enough flare to just about close it down (loaded at 1.6:1), even in no wind. When I sent it in to get "repaired" (don't ask), they sent me an equal size Stilleto on risers, i.e. factory settings. Riser pressure was lower than the V and no bucking. The toggles seem to take affect much higher. My full flair on the Stilletto seems to be just around the 50% stroke position. The funny thing is, if I add more toggle, nothing happens. I get no more lift, but the canopy doesn't stall, either. Have done it at altitude, and I cannot collapse the canopy even with full toggle deflection. Have not tried it while take a wrap. It's not that important to me.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
