hookitt 1 #26 August 28, 2003 Dive blocks on the rear risers will make it very difficult to pull the slider down over the toggles. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
PhreeZone 20 #27 August 28, 2003 I'm not disagreeing there... I'm personally for the hitting the gym method of getting better grips Although if you looked at the Dive blocks that were put on my CRW risers by a loft all they did was put a single piece of type 7 webbing on the riser Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
VectorBoy 0 #28 August 29, 2003 QuoteMy concern is that someone would become accustomed to rears to the point of using them to dig out of a low turn and stalling at a high rate of speed and possibly still in the dive.-That is a great runon sentence.- Any wing can be stalled at any angle relative to the horizon and at airspeeds much higher than usual. Practice this at altitude, get screaming in a downward spiral to an airspeed so above your normal stall point. Grab your rear riser and pull down, see how little it takes and how much faster you are flying, play with this small transition point. Try it slow and try it abruptly. If this was your method to dig out of a bad swoop you will auger in one day. Some canopys don't like the dynamic stall so be careful even at altitude. The rear riser flare is mastery of the smooth technique.
hkf 0 #29 March 1, 2005 I'm suffering from this a bit, think it may be due partly to the cold weather, and having to wear slightly thicker gloves. I was thinkingof putting PD slink covers on my rear risers to give me something to grip on. Although these are designed to stop the slider coming over them by itself does anybody know if it is still possible to bring the slider over them. Any other comments on using them would also be greatly appreciated.

I'm personally for the hitting the gym method of getting better grips personally ,i think having that something on the rear risers so your hands have less chances to slip is a good idea.At the recent world cup of canopy piloting ,Shanon Pilsher (not exactly unexperienced or unfit...)had a big crash (luckily on the water ) 2 days before the competition because one hand slipped on the rear riser. On my rears i have little blocks (small enough to get the slider over it) that do the job perfectly.wuk?? http://www.brunobrokken.com
 SkyPsycho 0 #31 March 4, 2005 QuoteI'm suffering from this a bit, think it may be due partly to the cold weather, and having to wear slightly thicker gloves.
