PhreeZone 20 #1 October 18, 2002 Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to clean a white canopy? I've recently acquired a mostly white canopy that easly passes all porsity test, but its looking really grimey and I'd love to have it bright white like the inside and bottom of the canopy is.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
AggieDave 6 #2 October 18, 2002 Just put it in the washer with a scoop of Tide... Ok, seriously, there was an article a while back on DZ.com about spot cleaning, this might get you in the right direction: http://www.dropzone.com/gear/articles/SpotCleaningofNylonParac.shtml--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." christoofar 0 #3 October 18, 2002 A packer friend noticed this problem... you have to pack white canopies on a clean mat when you put the pack job down, or your white cells turn brown. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! drenaline 0 #4 October 20, 2002 leave it as it is or just pass a dry cloth to remove the excess of dirt. Remember that the canopy has a silicone (i think its silicone) coating to reduce the porosity, but if you use any kind of liquid to clean it you can easily remove some of the coating. PhreeZone 20 #5 October 20, 2002 Its not a spray on coating.. its basically baked in. You can't wash it off. Or else pond swoopers would be tossing canopies after 3-4 chows.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
christoofar 0 #6 October 20, 2002 To keep the problem from getting worse, it might be good to get one of those cheap blue foldable floor excersize mats at the sporting goods store... just be sure to pick a side that you never expose to the floor and always stays clean. Plus: makes a good sleeping mat when you crash at the DZ and there aren't any bunks left. I've seen packing mats for rigs as well to keep the container from scuffing when you drag it across the floor. ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle. What brand of canopy is it? I know Performance Designs, washes canopies. You can call them and see how much they charge. But I would reccomend them doing it. Attatchment tape if not dried evenly will shrink at different levels causing your canopy to go out of trim. After a was PD inspect's the canopies before sending them back. They might even wash competators canopies also but I dont know. Ray Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!
PhreeZone 20 #8 October 22, 2002 Its a Jedei. I took a damp cloth and whiped the top skin down and that seemed to help get rid of some of it, I had to change the water 4 times in the bowl I was wetting the cloth with. Its liveable now, before you could see the grainage of the fabric thanks to the dirt sitting on top.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
