Cobalt steering lines

Recommended Posts

See attachment, was on the bag my canopy was in.....

Great idea but mine arrived fingertrapped and tacked. Also the lines were attached to the line holder with some sort of soft link (not a PD one, these have a metal ring). I opted out and went with PD S-Links cause the ones sent with the canopy looked like smaller spectra plus could only be single wrapped. Curious as to what the strength of these are?

I don't know what strength they are, I'm sure Dan could answer that. I'm sure there's nothing to be concerned about, it's just another style of soft link, there are many on the market these days.

Odd, the links that came with my Cobalt looked like the Precision links (with the metal ring) and could be (and were) triple wrapped. So far as the brakes coming not stitched in the future, I think that will be much nicer than having to pick all the stitching out to lengthen the brakes.

If it were my canopy, I would not want anything at all finger trapped. I would rather have full control to tie a knot where I want it, then when I finally find that exact point where I want the brakes set then I might finger trap, But ussually just leave the excess out (I had about 2 inches left over when I owned a Nitron 120).

the sticker goes on all our canopy bags, although only the smaller sizes arrive untacked. (larger sizes are less likely to be as agressively risered and are usually perfect with our stock factory setting).

atair slinks: i call them "frenchies" as pdf first made the design. there are probably more links of this design than any other being used as they were introduced in europe years before the tabed slink version. they are designed to loop through your lines and risers twice. they are intentionally a bit tight.

precision copied the same design and made them longer to allow a triple wrap. but this is just to be a little different. a double wrap frenchie is already stronger than metal link.

frenchies: tap is a metal ring about 1/2" diameter
slinks: tab is a piece of tape folded 4 times with hot glue and bartacked.
