slotperfect 7 #1 October 14, 2002 Does anyone have any experience packing these canopies in a Javelin or Odyssey J-3 W/CYPRES? Main: Vengeance 150, Vengeance 170 Reserve: Tempo 170 I currently own a J-4 with a PD176R & CYPRES and it fits beautifully. I have an opportunity to pick up a J-3, but would rather not go any lower in reserve size. Any input??Arrive Safely John
GrumpySmurf 0 #2 October 14, 2002 Here is what Sunpath has to say: J3K (which I am guessing is the same as the previous J3 size) Reserve up to 160 – Raven I Non-airlocked Main(Z.P) up to 170 Airlocked main up to 170 Sounds the main would be fine, but you may want to do some digging about the reserve. I have a J3 with a PD-160R with a CYPRES and it appears to be pretty snug, though I have yet to hear my rigger complain about packing it. As to a 170 reserve *shrug* Best bet would be to email/call Sunpath directly and ask them? bmarkworth 0 #3 October 14, 2002 SP, I have a J-3 with a PD176R and a Safire 169 and CYPRES. Everything fits fine and looks great, not bulky, so you will be fine on the reserve. I have never packed up a similar sized air-locked canopy, so maybe someone else can help you there. Bryan
Hooknswoop 19 #4 October 14, 2002 I have packed a MR-181-M and a PD-176R into a J3 w/o a problem. The main should go too. It will be a tight rig though. I understand the "K" on the new sizes means the main container has been cut down by 1/2 an inch. Just what I heard. Hook
steve1 5 #5 October 14, 2002 My guess would be, that the canopies you mentioned should fit about perfect. I own a J-2 with cypress. I have a tempo 170 in it and have been packing my Hornet 170 for a main. Things are quite snug, but not too tight. Steve1
AndyMan 7 #6 October 15, 2002 QuoteMain: Vengeance 150, Vengeance 170 Reserve: Tempo 170 Sounds just about perfect to me. I have a J-3 with a slightly older Tempo 210 - packs WAY tight, and is way over PD's recomendation. Older Tempos aparently pack smaller then current ones. I also have a Stileto 150, which fits just a bit loosely. The Vengence is going to pack larger then the Stileto, so you should be fine. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. nacmacfeegle 0 #7 October 15, 2002 I've got a J3 Odessy with a cypres, a PD176R, and a spectre 170 all snug and cosy. I gave the canopy and AAD specs to Sunpath, and they gave me a J3....... And I love it.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I had understood the "K" to designate an Odyssey as opposed to a standard Javelin.
