bobsoutar 0 #1 September 30, 2002 Anyone know the cheapest way to get hold of a Cobalt 120? A buddy of mine wants to order one this week as we are going to be doing a load of jumps in December. Any dealers out there doing a special discount at the moment? We live in England and will be jumping in Perris and Elsinore for 2 weeks in December. I know it will probably be cheaper to pick it up in the States - can he avoid paying California State Tax if he orders it from another State and gets it shipped across? skreamer 1 #2 September 30, 2002 Roy of Rigs n Things is selling them for $1 279. His store is in Florida, but I shouldn't think the shipping to California would cost too much. I bought a complete rig through him last year and received good service. Why are you going to California? You can get cheaper (shorter) flights to Florida. (nothing against California, I have jumped there, but Florida is much closer/cheaper) Will

bobsoutar 0 #5 September 30, 2002 Thanks for the info Will, better than the $1450 + tax that Square One are quoting! Going to California 'cos we fancied it and got non-stop return tickets with Virgin for £242 (may try Florida next year).
Jimbo 0 #6 September 30, 2002 QuoteThanks for the info Will, better than the $1450 + tax that Square One are quoting! Interesting. I thought the 'Square' policy was retail minus 20%. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
bobsoutar 0 #7 October 1, 2002 May well be. They are quoting retail as $1600.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #8 October 1, 2002 Last time I checked, $1,600 was "retail". Not that anyone I know pays true retail for anything.

skybytch 273 #10 October 2, 2002 QuoteThanks for the info Will, better than the $1450 + tax that Square One are quoting! Yup. Square One was told by Atair that no one could sell them for less than $1450. So we don't. Dan???

Didn't a few of the record labels recently agree to pay a small fortune to settle a similar case? - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. PhillyKev 0 #12 October 2, 2002 It's only price fixing when competitors agree on a set minimum price to eschew competition and keep their profit margins high. It's perfectly acceptable and common for manufacturers of all different products to require retailers to charge a minimum. Otherwise only the large volume discounters would be in business since they get the product cheaper. This way everyone has a chance to make a profit but the big volume guys get the benefit of a larger profit margin.

Actually, this is exactly why the record companies paid a very large fine just a few weeks ago. if it's true that Atair does that, it sure sounds like price fixing to me... which is odd considering how cheap the canopy is to start with. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. cobaltdan 0 #16 October 4, 2002 sorry for the late reply...been off line this week. we try to enforce a minimum street price on our products. as do many manufacturers. this is done in the best interest of our dealers and our customers. if everyone sells at comparable prices, it proctects our dealers for a minimum mark up and bennifits our customer by providing a large dealer network, with local representation, all vying for your business with support and service. there are many come and go, no-overhead car trunk dealers and mail order houses, that when selling products wholesale, damage product value and eliminates customer service & support, and put local hard working rigging/dealer companies with real overheads out of business. sincerely, dan<><> atair aerodynamics www.extremefly.com and btw many manufacturers do this, and no this is not price fixing.Daniel Preston <><> atairaerodynamics.com (sport) atairaerospace.com (military)
