Zennie 0 #1 September 27, 2002 I've been thinking of demoing a Velocity 103 (and I'll prolly check out the FX and Competition Cobalt in similar sizes). I'd be loading it right at 1.5 (I'm on a Vengeance 120 at 1.3 right now). The only thing I'm not sure of is whether I'd be underloading the canopy to really see any of the performance benefits of a crossbrace. Anyone else jumping a crossbrace at that wingloading? Any thoughts? - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
weid14 0 #2 September 28, 2002 I guess the question is, why spend the $$ for that type of canopy when at that loading there are some really good canopies that don't cost as much. You'll have fun on it, but the crossfire, cobalt, stiletto, type of canopy will function just as well. why are you switching?
fasterfaller 0 #3 September 28, 2002 That would be a good loading to start out with . You will have a good idea about how it opens and how it will fly through the openings . I did my first velocity jumps on a 120 at a 2.0 loading . I was flying a stiletto 97 before that and I noticed a big difference between the two . You were flying a stilleto at 2.47 wingloading? I am pretty sure this must have been a misprint on your part eh?"Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce. ramon 0 #5 September 28, 2002 At that wing loading I don't know if you will notice the differences between an FX and a velocity, except the velocity might open better.. You can put a couple on my FX before I sell it, but I definitely must put it for sale immediately."Revolution is an abrupt change in the form of misgovernment.", Ambrose Bierce. weid14 0 #6 September 28, 2002 I put a few jumps on a stiletto at 1.5 and the openings on my velocities (1.83 and 2.0) were much better, IMO.
Trent 0 #7 September 28, 2002 Just be careful, Ted. If you start acting up and hurt yourself, we'll all gang together and give you a Texas-style ass-whoopin. Got it? See you at the bigways!Oh, hello again!
Zennie 0 #8 September 28, 2002 Heh. Thanks. Just window shopping. I won't be actually downsizing for at least a couple months. I don't think I could even fit a 103 in my current rig - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
fasterfaller 0 #9 September 29, 2002 Nope , not a typo . I went to the velocity after blowing a panel out on the 97 . I had a few other problems besides that one because of the loading but never a landing problem . I know a few guys that are loading a stiletto at close to same as I was . I realize that is not a real good loading on a stiletto .
