MyUserID 0 #1 September 25, 2002 Anybody know if they are available?? I've only been able to find the tinted ones. Do they sell something similar to car tint that I could just slap onto an extra lens?? ------------------------------------------------------ Remember kids, eagles may soar, but at least weasels dont get sucked into jet engines. AggieDave 6 #2 September 25, 2002 Quotethey sell something similar to car tint that I could just slap onto an extra lens I'm wondering why you couldn't go to Autozone or PepBoys and buy some car tinting film and do it yourself, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. Either that or doesn't someone sell something like that for motorcycle helmet lenses? That would be even a closer match due to being similar materials the lenses are made of.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." quade 4 #4 September 25, 2002 Polarized? Really? I can't for the life on me figure out what the advantage would be and I -can- think of a couple of disadvantages. Anyway, you -won't- find anything like that as a spray-on tint from a custom car shop because it just doesn't work like that. If you had unlimited funds available, you -might- try; http://www.edmundoptics.com/Catalog/Coatings.cfmquade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Remster 30 #5 September 26, 2002 Before you go and put some dort of fairly dark film on your visor (Z1 or FD), think about it carefully. I know I've end up on 1 or 2 sunset loads that were more sunsetty then others.Remster
MyUserID 0 #6 September 26, 2002 Yeah, I would always keep my clear visor with me just in case I end up jumping around sunset/ when it's kinda cloudy, or if I was doing anything other than a solo (wouldnt want to blind anybody with the glaring sun). I dunno, it was just an idea I was thinking about, thought it would look kinda cool. I dont really want to wear sun glasses under my helmet because I can think of more problems with that than having a tinted visor. ------------------------------------------------------ Remember kids, eagles may soar, but at least weasels dont get sucked into jet engines. rhino 0 #7 September 26, 2002 The best tint I have seen is the yellow color. Keeps the glare down and brightens things up on the sunset load..
Remster 30 #8 September 26, 2002 Problem is you usually dont realize you need that clear lense until you need it! lol And yes, looking cool is what its all about....Remster
MyUserID 0 #9 September 26, 2002 No looking cool is fine as long as safety is not comprimised...hece the "thinking about it". But if you can do something practical (reduce the glaring florida sun) while looking cool too without comprimising saftety, then why not? ------------------------------------------------------ Remember kids, eagles may soar, but at least weasels dont get sucked into jet engines. AggieDave 6 #10 September 26, 2002 See, that's why I use tinted goggles, if I find it getting too dark on a load, after I deploy I pull them down around my neck.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
MyUserID 0 #11 September 26, 2002 likewise, i can just flip my visor up under canopy...always do anyway. Of course, vision during freefall shouldnt be considered less important than under canopy either. ------------------------------------------------------ Remember kids, eagles may soar, but at least weasels dont get sucked into jet engines.
