wmw999 2,589 #1 August 29, 2002 I'm probably just moaning, but why oh why is it that most rigs seem to have chest straps that are either a little or a lot too high? Even in the early 80's it was recognized that a low chest strap was a good option, and I know that Jump Shack has it as an option. Most of the others include it as a special request, I guess, because it's not mentioned. Unless I want to buy new gear, it's looking like I'm SOL. Because just about every used rig I've looked at (except for my own 1982 Mirage...) has a chest strap that's a little higher than I want. Are there modern rigs out there that are better for that? I'm in my 40's, and my boobs sure aren't going to move UP. I'm just getting back into the sport after a 15-year layoff, and I really didn't want to buy new gear when I'm likely to have to buy a new roof for my house, too (whine whine whine). There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
PhreeZone 20 #2 August 29, 2002 I'd get a new container anyways... a lot has been done to make gear safer and more flexible then older gear. With low chest straps (with women) you have to make sure the chest strap is correctly routed by having some one look at it since odds are you will have blocked your view of the strap. Too high of a chest strap and it will choke you on opening. Talk to a gear maker and they will work something out with you...Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

skycat 0 #4 August 29, 2002 My Reflex has a low chest strap I'm not sure of the DOM off the top of my head, but I'm thinking it was around 96. My new mirage has a chest strap right on top of my girls, but it fits so well I don't even notice it there.Fly it like you stole it!

riggerrob 643 #7 August 30, 2002 You are best off talking to a manufacturer that has a buxom woman in management. i.e. Brenda Reid (Rigging Innovations) or Nancy Larivier (Jump Shack).
skycat 0 #8 August 30, 2002 My only complaint on the low chest strap on my reflex was that the 3-rings were also attached lower so when I was jumping it with my crossfire and flared it would swing me out forward funny since they were attched near my boobs rather than my shoulders. I have a 14inch MLW on my reflex by the way (bought used).Fly it like you stole it!
