EXCESS LINE

Recommended Posts

Have a rigger look at it before you jump it. they will determine if it can be finger traped back in. You may need to adjust the length to fit your flying style too so don't cut it off yet.

I like my lines long, about 4 inches on PD canopies and 2 on Atair.

After you figure out what brake setting you are comfortable with have it finger trapped by your rigger . I would never cut brake lines because if you ever sell it the new owner might want a different setting . If you cut them and If the lines happen to shrink a little you have no excess length to work with .

Whatever you do, do it as soon as possible. I left mine out for a time, and damn near had to cut my canopy away a couple months back. The excess tied in a knot around my toggle as I unstowed it...I was flying straight, but had no control.
Fortunately, got it undone.

Oops!
