rmcvey 0 #1 July 19, 2002 Why is the logo on the stabiliser of my cobalt peeling off after only 50 jumps? Is this a unique comedy design feature to confuse other jumpers into thinking i jump a oblt 135.? Ps. its never gotten wet. Oh and by the way i love the canopy apart from this minor malfuntion. Kirils 1 #3 July 19, 2002 Sounds like you got a copy-cat chute from China (grin) Hey by the way, do the Chinese make parachutes?? They make everything else..."Slow down! You are too young to be moving that fast!" Old Man Crawfish
cobaltdan 0 #4 July 19, 2002 the logo is a silkscreen print. strange...did the "c" peal off or just fade? -dan atairDaniel Preston <><> atairaerodynamics.com (sport) atairaerospace.com (military)
zyzko 0 #5 July 20, 2002 Same thing with my 95 - the logo started to "crack" after about 40 jumps. I have noticed the same thing on other canopies too. Not really a problem, but it might confuse people when selling the canopy, after all for an example a Sabre my friend has has much better looking logos and the canopy has about 1000 jumps. As long as the warning label won't fade away I'm fine ;) -Kari
rmcvey 0 #6 July 20, 2002 Its slowly coming away in small pieces on all the letters on both stabilisers, and if you gently scratch the lettering with a finger nail it will kinda flake away. Just worried it looks older than it actually is, for if and when i get round to trying to sell it in the future.

LawnDart21 0 #9 July 22, 2002 Same issue here, my "Cobalt" logo on the stabilizers is cracked throught the word "Cobalt" and chunks of it have peeled off, the canopy probably has 50 jumps on it. No water touched it, and it's never laying in the sun. I tell you though, the way it flies, the double diamonds could peel off, and I wouldn't care, it's the best flying canopy I have ever owned. As long as it opens and swoops the way it does, I'll keep flying it, and flying it, and flying it..... -- My other ride is a RESERVE.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 July 22, 2002 Yeah. I could care less about side labels; the diamonds identify it immediately. If the labels bug you, just pick them off. I think I may just do that. Chuck
prost 0 #11 July 23, 2002 Icarus canopies seem to do the same thing. Not a big deal but I have noticed it and wondered why some canopies labels seem to last a lot longer. William
SkymonkeyONE 4 #12 July 23, 2002 Hell, when Icarus sent me my VX-74 several years ago, it didn't have any side labels sewn on at all; they forgot. I said something about it and they sent me two side labels and said they would pay to have them sewn on. I was like: "yeah right. Tear open the end of a small VX just to sew on some advertising?". Needless to say, I didn't do it.
mwnuk 0 #13 July 29, 2002 I've had the same with Cobalt and had the same issue with Contrail 3 years ago (also produced by the Slovenian manufacture).
