PhreeZone 20 #1 July 4, 2002 How much is too much out of trim on a Canopy? My brake lines are measuring 3.5 inches short compaired to the trim chart and the outer lines are about a full inch under spec right now... Whats everyones opinions on the lengh you will let the lines go out of trim before replacing them? The lines are in good condition so they are not needing replacement for the wear alone.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Jimbo 0 #2 July 4, 2002 Isn't this the type of question that is best suited for the manufacturer to answer? I would think that it is. Here's Atair's contact info: 160 Coffey Street Brooklyn, NY 11231 USA phone: 718-923-1709 fax: 718-923-1733 info@extremefly.com Since this type of thing is probably canopy specific I really can't think of anyone better to answer your question. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. riggerrob 643 #3 July 4, 2002 Be careful when comparing the length of your control lines to a trim chart because every manufacturer uses a slightly different measuring method. For example: Aerodyne measures line on risers, while Performance Designs measures lines with all the connector links and the brake locking eyes attached to the same peg. One inch difference on outboard lines is probably not a big deal, however by the time the brake lines are 3 inches out of trim, landing performance will start to suffer. The smaller the canopy, the sooner small differences will start to affect performance. Since few of us compete in blade-running meets, the real questions are: "Are the openings getting squirrely?" "Is landing performance stating to deteriorate?"
