Dive loops vs Dive Blocks

Recommended Posts

the risers i have now have dive blocks on the front risers. i have always used dive loops. i am having a problem with griping the blocks for any front riser input. are there any reasons that i would want to stick with blocks rather than change to loops?

I am not a fan of dive blocks personally, but I know several people that prefer them. I would stick with what you are comfortable with, especially if you have other mains hooked up on dive loop equipped risers. As a comparison, I have one main on triple risers and another with "standard" ones. I rear-riser the standards and do not touch them with my trips. I do about as well with either, but it's weird to switch back and forth.

There are a couple of advantages, the blocks will never break, the blocks will never loop around something. However, they are not ment for people who do a whole bunch of front riser stuff.

For example, CReW folks prefer 2X1 loops with the extra ring and line to give a large advantage (like a single pully). You can do rotations a lot better with the extra advantage. I use blocks because I only need a very little advantage for front risers and I don't use them very often.

It will all just depend on how much you want to work with the fronts and how much advantage you want.
