lummy 4 #1 June 11, 2002 I recently had the control lines replaced (well Lowers one week, and then I made them do the uppers the next because of fraying at the loop) on my Omega and it seems to have developed a slight right turn under canopy.. Looking up, the left control line has no slack while the right side does (looks about normal). On landings It tends to crab. I thought it might be a slight crosswind at the DZ which is possible. I compared the lines (control) and they are the same exact size and I even checked for line twists. I'd kind of like to be sure I know what the problem is BEFORE I go back to the rigger who did the work. What else would you suggest I check? TBH, I haven't paid attention to body position and that is one other thing I will be looking for, but It does seem to have started after the control lines were replaced...TIALummyOne shot... HEY!!! Hooknswoop 19 #2 June 11, 2002 Compare the length of the entire steering lines, tail to toggles. If one steering line is slack and one is taunt, then one has to be shorter than the other. If the canopy didn't have this turn before, chances are pretty good that, seeing as your steering lines were just replaced, the steering lines are the cause.Hook
narcimund 0 #3 June 11, 2002 I've had the same thing happen when I've tightened my leg straps carelessly. "Flying without feathers is not easy; my wings have no feathers" -- Titus Maccius Plautus, 220 B.C.
lummy 4 #4 June 11, 2002 Carelessly? What do you mean? Uneven? I'm pretty good about making sure they are even when tightening them up so I don't think that is it, unless one is slipping. Also, to be specific, it is not really a right turn but a side slide to the right (like crabbing). This part confuses me.. The brake lines that seem taught are the left side ones and it crabs to the right. Wouldn't it crab on the side that is taught?I checked the lines last nite and the right side seems to be about a half in longer when brakes are set but unset, they seem to be about the same length. To be sure, I did tie the rings together to make sure.Maybe asking someone else to jump it to see if they have problems too to rule out pilot error? One shot... HEY!!! Mas Tequila!!!! Hooknswoop 19 #5 June 12, 2002 Check your line trim, specifically, the "A" lines.Hook

nacmacfeegle 0 #7 June 12, 2002 Just a suggestion, not criticising at all... it may be your harness isn't evenly tightened. Or you may be loading it slightly unevenly with your leg positions. Are you reaching out with one leg on landing at all...Try asking someone else to jump it and see what they think. Was this only noticable on one day and were you 100% into wind on approach, could there have some local wind anomalies such as thermal activity etc.......CyaDGR# 37Remember how lucky you are to see and touch the sky; the blind may only dream. lummy 4 #8 June 12, 2002 Nac... No worries at all, heck I'm almost wishing it is me... I'm getting tired of having my rig in the loft all the time :)for Harness, like I mentioned previously, I'm pretty good at making sure the leg straps are the same length, as a matter of fact, I almost always compare them as a matter of habit. for landings I tend to favor my left foot first but I don;t think that I'm reaching with it. As a side note, when I look at the lines it's usually around 2k, when I'm on final, I've never looked up at them.AS for the DZ's I've noticed it at 2 different ones now over 2 weekends. I picked the rig up from the loft on a Sat and made 2 jumps that day and didn't really notice it. The next day I jumped at Lodi which has a set East to west Landing pattern when I first noticed it and thought I could be coming in a little crosswind. Happened on all threes jumps and the winds were about 15-18 mph... The next weekend was at Eloy, and I was landing into the student area where you are allowed to head directly into the wind and it was doing it there too. Winds were up about the same speed. There were dust devils in the area but none were anywhere close to me. Jumped 2 days there...So Plan is:Check lines A's in particular,Double check harness fitPay attention to leg position and how I'm sitting in harnessHave someone else jumpOne shot... HEY!!!
