PhillyKev 0 #1 June 4, 2002 Anybody have input as to the advantages of the ProTrack over the Skytronics FX that make the $100 price difference worth while? cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin
PhreeZone 20 #2 June 4, 2002 PI's service sucks while L&B would give you the dytter out of their helmet if yours died.... that alone is worth the money to me...If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.... SkydiveMonkey 0 #3 June 4, 2002 The pro track is more accurate, and gives you a wider range of data. Plus you can hook it up to a pc. LandB's customer service kicks ass as well. Let's go play chicken with a planet !!
PhillyKev 0 #4 June 4, 2002 I've got to wonder though, if I'm paying $289 for this thing, I shouldn't need customer service, no matter how good it is. The hooking it up to a pc would be nice, but now you're talking about $389.Mainly, I'm just looking to get an audible, but figured might as well get something that logs as well if I'm shelling out some cash.Is the accuracy that much different? ($100 different). How about the feature set?cielos azules y cerveza fría-Kevin
PhreeZone 20 #5 June 4, 2002 LB be has been known to replace complete units if the LCD cracks, gets ripped of a helmet due to a riser, the unit mals in any way. Freaksis got a new one for free over something, and when she lost the second one... she was given a discount on another one. After the service sale rocks at L&B. Parasport will take your money and ignore you.... Support those that support us....You paid over a grand on your main... does the "shouldn't need customer service, no matter how good it is" theory still work on it? If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will....
weid14 0 #6 June 4, 2002 I got a knee in the side of the head, and the LCD broke, unit still functioned. they sent me a brand spanking new one -- that's customer service! (I did send the old one back)
Jimbo 0 #7 June 4, 2002 QuoteI've got to wonder though, if I'm paying $289 for this thing, I shouldn't need customer service, no matter how good it is.You'll need service on it sometime. Think about it, you're taking a small computer out of an airplane (temperature changes), you're putting it in a place where it can come in contact with other helmets, other peoples body parts, risers, etc... you're pushing those two little buttons countless times. This little device takes a beating, sometime in it's life you're going to need customer service and L&B have mastered that department. When I lost mine on a skydive gone wrong a few months ago they were kind enough to give me a discount on another one. If I ever find myself in a place where I'm wanting a second audible you can bet it will a Pro-Dytter, L&B has earned my patronage.-Jim
BadDog 0 #8 June 4, 2002 For the record, you can hook a Skytronic FX up to a PC as well.CorporateLawyerDave aka BadDog
Dumpster 0 #9 June 4, 2002 I own a Pro-Dytter, and will be adding a Pro-Track in the future- After overwhelming reviews in favor of the Pro-Track, and I don't think anyone at my home DZ will even consider a Skytronics, it seems like a no-brainer here-Blues!---D
Darkzone 0 #10 June 6, 2002 There was a recent post on this forum on the same subject and the overwhelming opinion was in favour of the ProTrack in regards of quality of product and after sales care. Until then I was undecided between the two but after reading the post I plumped for the ProTrack and I know I made the right choice. As for after sales service, I wanted to register my unit via the internet but there was no mention of being able to do this in the information that came with the PT. I emailed L&B and had a reply within minutes (literally). The PT was registered within an hour or receiving it.Far away is close at hand in images of elsewhere. Kirils 1 #11 June 7, 2002 I perfer Skytronics because it is LOUD!!!My Dytter is better quality, but I wish it was as LOUD as my Skytronics!Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
Staso 0 #12 June 7, 2002 >> I perfer Skytronics because it is LOUD!!!i had to put some scotch tape over tweeter hole in my Pro-Dytter becasue it was too loud for me. but i should mention that i have full-face Z1 helmet.stan.--Go fast !
