SkyDekker 1,465 #1 May 29, 2002 I am looking at buying a Naro container with a 190 conquest main and a 210 tempo reserve. I was just wondering what people here have to say about that gear.It would eb my first gear,s ince I am fresh off TAF progression, have 14 jumps and can't wait to get back in the air. Thanks,SkyDekker"We cannot do great things, only small things with great love" Mother Theresa
ChromeBoy 0 #2 May 29, 2002 How much are they asking for it? Is it Cypres equipped?
skybytch 273 #3 May 29, 2002 The Conquest is a 9 cell zp main, correct? What's your exit weight and what size/type mains have you been jumping? The Naro container isn't real popular in the US, don't know about up in Canada. Resale value may not be very high - what are they asking for it, how old is it and how many jumps are on it?pull & flare, lisa"Try not. Do or do not. riggerrob 643 #4 May 29, 2002 Conquest main canopy (made in South Africa by Chute shop or PISA) is one of many Sabre Mk 1 clones. A decent buy as long as the lines have less than 500 jumps.NARO harness/container (made by Parachute Industires of South Africa) is one of many Vector 2 clones. It utilizes last week's technology. It will get you in the air, but you won't win any fashion points. The real question is how much wear and tear it has suffered over the years.Price should be less than US$2,000 without a Cypres, maybe US$3,000 with.We should remind you of the usual caveat to have a rigger do a full inspection before any money changes hands. The other caveat is that this gear has low resale value in North America.
SkyDekker 1,465 #5 May 29, 2002 lol, for now I am not too worried about winning fashion awards with my gear. The rig does come with a cypress, which had its batteries changed 2 years ago. I have been told that the rig was inspected and the reserve repacked a month ago (all this in canada, where I live as well) It has about 500 jumps on it, though the main canopy has been relined roughly 50 jumps ago. Included in the package is a brand new ft-50 altimeter.Package cost $2,000 US.I am 5'11" and weigh 195 (not exit weight) currently jump the rented raider 230. DZO and instructors have mentioned that I should be able to jump a 190 sized canopy after 5 to 10 or so more jumps. Thanks for all your help......SkyDekker"We cannot do great things, only small things with great love" Mother Theresa
skybytch 273 #6 May 29, 2002 Based solely on your weight and jump numbers, I'd really suggest a 210 main for starters. But... I haven't seen you fly and land. Is there a possibility of jumping a zp 210 for 10-20 jumps or so before moving down to the 190? That's a pretty good price for the complete rig if the Cypres is current on 4/8 year. If the batteries were changed 2 years ago it needs them now or very soon - batteries are only good for 2 years...pull & flare, lisa"Try not. Do or do not. SkyDekker 1,465 #7 May 29, 2002 Hi Lisa, Yeah, the idea is to go to a 210 in a couple of jumps and then go to the 190....SkyDekker"We cannot do great things, only small things with great love" Mother Theresa
