scottbre 0 #1 March 14, 2002 Ok, on the last 2 jumps I have made with my protrack, I have been under a full canopy before when my second warning is supposed to sound, but it still sounded. Is this supposed to happen? I was under the impression that if you were under canopy the the second and third warnings wouldn't go off. I'm jumping the default dive type mode. So is this right, 1st and 2nd always go off, or is my protrack glitchy?20 million bathtubs can't be wrong. . .
Albatross 0 #2 March 14, 2002 Usually the 1st is breakoff the 2nd is deploy and the 3rd is OH shit. So you normally should hear the 2nd alarm. I often hear the 3rd because I jump a Spectre and it is still slowing me down when I pass the 3rd Altitude. It has to do with the lag time of the speed calculations.God bless us and God Bless AmericaAlbatross
skycat 0 #3 March 14, 2002 I think it's normal, it didn't happen before I got my 104, but now I can set it off if I'm spiraling, or doing anything that is really making the canopy move.

I thought it only went off if your vertical speed was more than 20 m/s. I'm confused.20 million bathtubs can't be wrong. . .
skycat 0 #5 March 14, 2002 ummm...I'm loading the 104 at 1.2-1.3, as to what conditions it's suppose to go off in I'm not sure. I know on those jumps that I was opening high, the 1st warning (4500) never went off, the 2nd (2500) one did, and the 3rd(1500) one never did. Actually one of the times when it went off I was trying to get back from a bad spot so was just flying over to where I wanted to be for my holding area before starting my pattern. As for the 20 m/s I have no idea what the +/- is on those, or why it is doing it at your WL. Email the Mfg, I'm sure they could shed some light on it. kwmontreal 0 #6 March 15, 2002 I have not noticed the 3rd alarm on my ProTrack .... (knock on wood). So I would say that it is not normal. Go direct to the source and e-mail Mads Larsen (managing Dir.) at L&B. mads@L-and-B.dkI have dealt with him about a problem with the two buttons coming off, and he is a real honest guy . The best after service of any product I've purchased !!
FallinWoman 1 #7 March 15, 2002 I always hear the second warning, and have yet (knock on wood) to hear the third...I did a pop and hop at 7000 ft and still heard the second warning...I don't remember whether the first (set for 5000 ft) sounded but I know that the second (at 3500) did. I was not in the midst of any crazy turns, just lollygagging around. I would rather it go off too often than not often enough!Anne
PhreeZone 20 #8 March 15, 2002 I've heard the third a few times..... it really can get your heart started again... Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
Kris 0 #9 March 15, 2002 QuoteI've heard the third a few times..... it really can get your heart started again...Tell me about it. I don't hear it too often after opening but last weekend I opened high (4K) under my Stiletto to play around and passing through 3K doing some hard spirals I set off the deployment alarm.Let's just say that I was glad that I went to the bathroom before that jump.Kris
PhreeZone 20 #10 March 15, 2002 No... I've still been in snivel when the third is still going off at 1600... Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
dragon2 2 #11 March 15, 2002 Hi,I have the same problem. Most of the time the 2nd warning sounds when i´m under canopy, and in no way is that a small/fast canopy (did it when downsizing from student gear), and also I wasn´t spiraling etc. I have the first warning at 3800 ft, my 'hey you should think about pulling', my 2nd at 3000 'didn´t you pull yet?' . Most of the time I am already under a good canopy by 3000 since I´ve been trying out new chutes. And most of the time the thing goes BEEPBEEPBEEP anyway. Also it beeps when still snivelling etc but that´s ok.My DZ shop send my pro-trackback to L&B, they send me another one within a week or so (great service!!!!!!). But, that one acts the same. So, another email. L&B confirmed this is normal, they said to set the first warning for break-off, the second for pulling. This is how the pro-track is supposed to be used. Still, I think a descent-rate thing should have been build-in, however you use the thing. This loud beep gets fairly annoying.ciel bleu,Saskiawww.dragon2.nl

I am going to try to change the dive type from the default one to the bodyflying (this seems closest to normal belly to earth) one and see what that does.20 million bathtubs can't be wrong. . . Jabeln79 0 #13 March 15, 2002 I have a L&B Dytter and it goes off on the way up to altitude so it would probably go off on the way down if i was under canopy. Blue Skies Joe "When they say jump you say how high" RATM
dragon2 2 #14 March 18, 2002 2 things some people at my DZ told me could be the problem:My warning altitudes of 3800 and 3000 ft might be too close, I should keep at least 1000 ft in between warnings, and, maybe this problem started when they allowed for wingsuit fallrates, ie the older model might do better. Just some ideas. I do hear about this bug (?) from a lot of people, maybe we should collectively start bugging L&B about it :)ciel bleu,Saskiawww.dragon2.nl
