klingeme 1 #1 March 13, 2002 I'm looking into getting my company to "sponsor" me by buying me a "company rig" with the company logo on it, and I contacted PD about buying a new Stiletto 120 and what it would cost to get the logo put on the canopy and was expecting a $200-$300 estimate, however they said it would cost around $950. I was wondering if the manufacturer is the only one who can do this modification to a main, or if a Master Rigger might be able to do it. Anyone with any "logo"ing a main experience? I just want to know if this can be done Post manufacturing. Thanks,Mark
PhreeZone 20 #2 March 13, 2002 Post manufacturing huh? All the lines would need removed to apply what ever method of logoing you want on the canopy then the lines need reattached. Figure the cost of a reline at $175 plus the fee to apply the logo and its materal cost. The cost of a Logo is really dependent on the complexity of the logo. A simple one color block lettering design is cheap. Multi color/multi layer logos that have to resemble something specific are a bit harder and there fore more expensive. Before you run out and get a logo or a sponsor you might want to consider the situations you will be jumping in to see if its worth it. On Demos all the time or do big, high profile events? It might be worth it. Only at the DZ? Probally not unless you are so cheap you don't want to buy your own gear. Consider how bad it would look to constantly crash or have bad landings on the canopy. How you proform under the canopy is a direct reflection on the company you are representing.Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
skybytch 273 #3 March 13, 2002 The logos PD puts on canopies are fabric that is sewn on - a very labor intensive procedure, which helps explain the cost. A fabric logo will increase the pack volume of the canopy, and may affect the way the canopy flies (especially a canopy like a Stiletto). There used to be someone advertising in Skydiving who would "paint" a logo on a canopy. Ad is not in this month's mag though... pull and flare,lisa--I'll be in the bar... you'll find me...
