dpapuga 0 #1 March 6, 2002 Am I correct that everything from the risers up to the top skin is considered part of the canopy? What about the actual rings that lines connect to and their covers? I bought a complete rig and want to put a different main in it (same size). The plastic ring covers that the lines connect to are "chewed-up" . Do these come with a new canopy? What are these covers called?
PhreeZone 20 #2 March 6, 2002 The links and up are part of a canopy, the risers go with a rig. Slider bumpers are cheap and easy to replace. I'd look into replaceing the metal links with soft links. Look at Performance Designs website for details on their Slinks. I highly recommend them for everyone's main.Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
Geoff 0 #3 March 6, 2002 QuoteThe plastic ring covers that the lines connect to are "chewed-up" This is potentially very dangerous. Imagine the brake line catching and jamming on the bumper as you pull on the toggle to make your last turn onto final approach. The brake jams part on and you keep turning into the ground. For this reason and others, I agree with Phreezone. I prefer slinks. To answer your question, slider bumpers are usually supplied with the canopy.Geoff
nacmacfeegle 0 #4 March 6, 2002 PD Slinks rock, I've tried the PdF ones and they suck, I don't want no steenkin' hard links no more....
MarkM 0 #5 March 6, 2002 You guys should get kickbacks from PD. I just ordered a set of Slinks for my new rig.
Kris 0 #6 March 7, 2002 Sorry, got to add in my opinion: SLINKS ROCK! I have used them on my canopies since just off of student status. Just make sure that you inspect them every so often and they should be fine.Kris
SkymonkeyONE 4 #7 March 7, 2002 I used to bitch quite a bit that Slinks were a pain in the ass if you swapped mains around a lot on the same set of risers, but now I use them regularly. I have extra risers laying all over the place, so no need to keep the rapides.ChuckMy webpage HERE
