Geoff 0 #1 February 26, 2002 Anybody have any informed opinions about the Techno reserve, made by Parachutes de France. Particularly:Anybody jumped one?How does its pack volume compare to other reserves of the same placarded size? How does its surface area compare to other reserves of the same placarded size?Any comments on the level of reinforcement compared to PD, Tempo ?Any likes / dislikes of the directly attached lines?I understand the Techno is TSOd, but not for sale in the US. Would US riggers be happy to pack a Techno? Thanks for any info.Geoff(Maybe this has been covered here before, but I couldn;t find it on a search because it kept finding 'technology')
R00tj00se 0 #2 February 26, 2002 Can't give you any technical details other than the things looks beautiful when it is above your head :)All I can do is compare the Techno 128 i have used to a Microraven 150 I used.Tecnho felt more like a parachute than the Microraven. Microraven was sluggish in the turns. Also the Techno gave me a great surf and stand up landing however I felt as though I had enough control to land it anywhere.Must admit that these differnces may be due to the size and age of the canopies. MR 150 was about 8 yrs old where as the techno was 10 months old.Would I buy a Techno again - definitey.P.S.It was repacked by an American rigger! riggerrob 643 #3 February 26, 2002 I have repacked a few Techno reserves and found their quality of materials and workmanship to be very high.Technos are manufactured under an FAA TSO and can legally be packed by any FAA licensed rigger.Technos are not sold in North America because Parachutes de France does not want to do business with slimy, ugly, repulsive, bottom-feeding (Did I say ugly?) American lawyers.Technos are reinforced with suspension line, instead of tape. They should be as strong or stronger than any tape-reinforced reserve.Technos pack slightly smaller than other brands.Parachutes de France clearly re-thunk the entire reserve design process when they designed the Techno.
