matttrudeau 0 #1 February 21, 2002 I'm seriously thinking about purching my first rig. What is everyone's opinion about the Talon Flexon container? It was manufactured in 1996. Any information, positive or negative will be appreciated. Thanks,
skybytch 273 #2 February 21, 2002 The Flexon was the forerunner to the Talon 2. First rig to have harness rings. The only thing I'd suggest watching for is some of the older ones were made with Antron fabric, which didn't hold up as long as Cordura or Parapac does. Replacement parts are still available through the manufacturer, Rigging Innovations. From the info I have (dated 1995) the largest Flexon, the F6, was built to hold a PD193R/Raven II reserve and a ZP 190 main.If you can get it relatively cheap I think it'd be a good starter rig. pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo? riggerrob 643 #3 February 22, 2002 Sounds like you are looking at a '94 Talon which is a Flexon harness sewn to an entirely new container design. The '94 is the immediate predecessor to the Talon 2, and so close in design that you should use the Talon 2 packing manual. For all practical purposes, you will get a Talon 2. There are only minor variations in yoke size. When I worked at the Talon factory (1994 - 1997) I replaced plenty of mis-fitted flaps on '94 Talons, but we had corrected most of those pattern problems by the end of 1994.'94 Talons are great containers. I jumped one for 3 years, then traded it in for a Talon 2. If I had the bucks today, I would buy a Voodoo which is basically a '94 Talon reserve container with a series of minor updates to the harness and main container. SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 February 24, 2002 My wife has a flexon made out of black antron. Actually, it was the very first one made. It was Bill Jackson's world team rig. It is her style rig as well as her RW rig. The only thing I dislike about it is the poor main riser protection. The covers do not do a very good job of keeping her mini risers covered at he very top of the rig. Besides that, the rig fits great.ChuckMy webpage HERE
