1) Pull the loop off the end of the bar.
2) run the bar through the closing loop on your rig.
3) put the loop back on the end of the bar.
4) close the rig
5) remove the loop from the end of the bar
6) remove the line from the closing loop.
The biggest problem is that the loop that attaches to the bar can be very tight. This will loosen with age.

I think that you might be asking how to get it through the grommits. once you put the cord through the closing loop and put the cord loop back on the bar, you pass the entire metal bar with the cord attached through the gromit holes. Some do it one at a time and others do them all at once. I would try one at a time.

I have to agree. I have a power tool and trying to close all flaps at once wears the closing loop faster. I rarely use it anymore because I think it also has a greater tendency to cut into the loop more than a ribbon.
Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability...
