kallend 2,147 #1 February 15, 2002 I'm a college professor (engineering) and I'm teaching applications of crystal optics this semester. One of the topics is the physics of the ring sight.Does anyone know where I can get hold of the optical elements of a ring (or cross) sight? I don't want a fully assembled and mounted unit. Parts from a broken sight would also be OK.Any donations would be tax-deductible (assuming skydivers pay taxes :-).John KallendIllinois Inst. of TechnologyChicago
AggieDave 6 #2 February 15, 2002 Drop by Square1's website. There'll be a number on it, ask for Lisa (SkyBytch) Square1"Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..."
LawnDart21 0 #3 February 15, 2002 There are a few different types of ring sights available, they range from maybe $50 up to about $200. Check out www.pierltd.com they carry all the brands. They move a pretty high volume of sights so I would assume they would get broken ones returned and may have a few lying around. Hope that helps. (For the record, I jump with a sight, and it works fine, but before I got the site, I had a friend point my camera while I was wearing it, at an object. I then took a black permanent marker and closed one eye, while marking the other eye on the goggles. When I opened both eyes, I had a perfect sight through the marker points. It's was just as acurrate as the ring sight."I live to EFS"Tom
