justinbuss 0 #1 January 21, 2002 Any of you ever jump a VortexII (or even a Vortex) harness/container system? I'm looking to buy one, and was wondering what, if any, opinions there are about it.His eyes seem so glazed As he flies on the wings of a dream
SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 January 21, 2002 And tried on my friends Vortex II last weekend and it was the most comfortable rig i've ever tried on. Be careful of getting an earlier vortex II though becuase of the stiffeners in the reserve tray / flaps. Apparently there was a problem of them not being covered properly. Support the cause - do a skydive(r)
 riggerrob 643 #3 January 21, 2002 Haven't jumped a Vortex II yet, but the pair that showed up recently had first rate workmanship.
 justinbuss 0 #4 January 21, 2002 No worries there ... I'm having it custom made, so it's the "latest and greatest" design. I'm also ordering it mainly because of comfort fit and it looks pretty funky and it doesn't hurt that it's so cheap (compared to my other options).I hve not had the opportunity to jump one, because most of the VortexII's on my DZ have very small canopies in them and I won't jump those for quite some time (I've only got 26 jumps).Eat. Shit. Skydive. What else is there? I was advised shipping to Ohio was $250.00 AND the price for the rigs has just gone up ( "they will advise me on the new price in a couple days") It dosen't look like it's such a great deal anymore. Every email comes back "sorry for the delay getting back to you"....The Vortex might be a good rig, if you can get one at a decent price. I'm leaning on sticking Stateside and getting a Jav or Mirage.Skydiving is not a static excercise with discrete predictability... The factory in Durban has been closed for a while (they closed 15 December and only reopened on 21 January as far as I know). If you tried to ordered in that time then you would probably have gotten delayed.I'm not "stateside" ... I live and jump in South Africa, so it makes sense for me to order locally.By the way, if you don't get good response from the guys at Chute Shop, try going through the dealer in Johannesburg (http://www.icarus.co.za or send e-mail to manny@icarus.co.za).
