Zennie 0 #1 January 14, 2002 Just got a new canopy and over the next year or so I'd like to learn to do some basic maintenece on my rig. Change out brake lines, swap out a main, attach new risers, finger trap a closing loop. Simple things like that (which IMHO every skydiver should know how to do anyway). So my question is, do any of you have a "field rigging kit" of items to allow you to do basic maintenence on the spot? What would you consider essential items to have in the kit?"Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense."
BadDog 0 #2 January 15, 2002 Good question. Being a rigger, and since I jump at a DZ with a loft on the premises, I just borrow what I need if I don't have my rigger's kit with me. What would I suggest? Small crescent wrench and screwdriver (for Rapidlinks), pre-made closing loops for your main, and duct tape. Well, maybe not duct tape. PhreeZone 20 #3 January 15, 2002 Changing brake lines is just some fingertrapping so get a good set of fids to work with. Swaping a main and attatching a new one to risers are best done with a partner or a hanging rack. She if the wife will let you put one up in the garage. Other then that, a needle and some heavy thread (for simple jumpsuit, ect repairs), some 550 cord (very useful stuff), some duct tape(never know....), Heavy duty shears or sissors(never know when you might need to cut someones rig off them), premade closing loops, closing loop washers, if you can find some rapide links or extra slinks, tons of pullup cords, extra dytter/altimeter batteries, and a some simple tools like plyers, wrenches and screwdrivers.I want to touch the sky, I want to fly so high ~ Sonique
