Hi James,
dont let the yanks confuse you! (instead, let this canadian do it! lol)
We've been living in the UK for a couple of years now.
Hinton is a fine DZ, except for the company you'll have to keep (Hi Will!) (PS: by debauchery, Clay meant things involving pooddles and sheep), especially if you want to get into freeflying. Its also not too far from London (in between Banburry and Brackley, home of the BAR racing team). They had a rigger on site on the weekends when we were going there.... I think I have her phone number, let me know if you want it.
Further up the road, there's Langar (close to Nottingham). IMHO, great DZ for flat flyers (its our home now, even with the 2 hour drive to get there). A few riggers there on the weekend, but the "official" dz rigger (rigger examiner in fact), John, is always there on weekends unless they're in Spain. Great guy (so is his son Phil who also works with him), great job. I do have his number, ask and you shall receive.
Closer to home, there is a rigger in Farborough (Hants). Never used his services, but a friend does for his tandem equipment. Again, I have his number if you want it.
As a last ditch effort, you could post on uk.rec.skydiving

Hi James
Remi covered most of your options. Just a couple of points I'd like to bring to your attention :
Members at Hinton get their coaching dives subsidized ALL the way up to FS1. If you want to try freeflying once you have your FS1 (and you know you do! :D), then freefly coach jumps are also subsidized (total cost of £24 for both slots - inc. briefs and video). Pat, the rigger, is there every weeked, and the CCI (Dave Emerson) is also a rigger. Lastly, the fact that you have done AFF abroad will NOT be an issue at all. I am there most weekends, if you like I will be happy to introduce you to Pat and an instructor so you can get back in the air as quickly as possible.
If you have any other questions or need contact details, feel free to PM me.
Will

lol the dude just got his Cat.8 - so he probably isn't worthy of a skygod like yourself's company ;). Better he comes to Hinton and joins the zoo!!! :D
Will
PS commission? Nah, I think Hinton already has enough tandem cargo lined up - no commission there.
