freeflir29 0 #2 January 4, 2002 I've never heard of anything except cleaning the cables and inspection of all the components at repack."I got some beers....Let's Drink em!!!"Clay
skycat 0 #3 January 4, 2002 My rigger recomended cleaning the cables and flexing the 3-rings about once a month depending on how much you jump if it was dusty, yadda yadda yadda. Basically i've just gotten in the habit of doing it once a month whether it needs it or not. Kelli
SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 January 4, 2002 I clean my system thoroughly every time I repack my reserve. I visually inspect my system before every jump day, then as part of my pre-jump routine. On the repacks, I take my cutaway completely out and wipe the cable off with WD-40.ChuckMy webpage HERE
flow 1 #5 January 6, 2002 My container manual says to cleanup the cut-away system once in amonth or once in 50 jumps, which comes first.Me, I guess I do it something like once in a six months. :( Guess thisis just asking for troubles, so I will try to do it more often thisyear. alan 1 #6 January 6, 2002 Do you have a new Wings? Do you have the owner's manual? If so, have you read it? In case you don't have it, the best source for answers to this type of question, is the rig manufacturer. You should contact them for a copy of the owner's manual. Page 19, paragraph 1 states: "The 3-Ring release system must be disassembled, flexed and inspected every month." Also, from the same page: "Immediate inspection is required if it has been subjected to some abuse such as drag {sic} across the runway, a water landing or exposure to a lot of dust or sand."There is a whole bunch of valuable information in the manual, including a detailed description of the 3-ring release system, how to maintain it, assemble it, and inspect it.alan
