Due to Wx, we recently were stuck doing Hop n Pops from about 2200 feet. Guys with B-C PC's had to fall a little further before they got pin extraction. Seems like a drawback to me.

This seems odd to me. Bungee collapsible pc's are calibrated to inflate by about 80 mph airspeed. Cessna on jr with a cut still should be doing 85 or 90, even on the slow end. They _should_ inflate immediately. In my experience, they do and it is easy to docuement with video. Also tried holding a few out of a car window as the car accellerated. Most were inflated by 50 mph and all were inflated by 60 mph (and got nearly impossible to hang onto), hence they are not recommended for high performance swooping canopies, which can easily exceed those speeds and inflate the pc.

Betcha they would, without the jumper's burble. BASE jumpers learned a long time ago that if you want more drag from your PC you have to extend the bridle much farther than the 4-5 feet most skydiving rigs use. When it's that close you don't quite get that 80mph of wind consistently.

We had video of Buzz doing 33 jumps on his 33rd birthday (or something like that, I forget the exact number) and you could see his bungee PC inflating, then deflating, then inflating on the hop and pops. It was sort of eerie, especially when it would pull the pin then deflate as it blew backwards.
