Single beep vs 3 beep dytter

Recommended Posts

The bottom line here is what you are willing to pay and what you want the device to tell you. I would like to have a newer "three-tone" audible, but my old single-beep is fine for what I need it for. I only NEED to know when breakoff time is. After that, I focus solely on tracking away and pulling, so it is fine. Also, there are plenty of people out there who upgrade to the multi-beep versions and almost give their old Dytters away. I only paid $30 for my last one from a buddy. If I could not find a used one for cheap, then I would definitely pay the extra bit of money to get the better, newer designs.

I like having 3 warnings. The first....Break Off. Just gives you a reminder in case you weren't paying attention. My second.....2500 Ft. If I hear this and I'm still in Free Fall I'm going low (For me..I usually like to open at 3000) I have never heard the 1500 flat line. If I'm under a malfunction and not paying as good of attention as I should be....That warning may be the difference between life and death. 1500 should be waaaaayyyy more alti than I need if I pull the handle immediately. Just gives an extra margin of safety....especially since I don't have a Cypres...
