ooohhhno 0 #1 November 24, 2001 Anyone out there know anything about a reserve chute made by "The Chute Shop" called the Decelerator (South Africa). Good, Bad????
Waldschrat 0 #2 November 29, 2005 Up The same question here. If there any new experience with the Decelerator reserve? Thx
Danne 0 #3 November 30, 2005 They work OK. Just make sure you dont overload them. We had an incident this summer where a Decelerator 120 loaded with 90 kilos stalled when flared. It stalled when the toggels were at about shoulder hight. It was clearly overloaded but not all reserv designs behave like this. /D
mattjw916 2 #4 November 30, 2005 QuoteJust make sure you dont overload them. Same goes for any reserve. It amazes me when people complain about short flare stroke/abrupt stall or whatever (e.g. Raven) and they are overloading the crap out of the poor canopy.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
riggerrob 643 #5 November 30, 2005 I have repacked a few - Chute Shop of South Africa - Decelerator reserves. Quality of materials and workmanship is as high as that "other" South Afircan manufacturer. Fortunately I have not deployed a Decelerator.
