ojf1982 0 #1 October 24, 2001 I am about to receive my sabre2 in 2 weeks, what packing technique would you recommend. This will be my first canopy.Blue Skies,Omar A-39113
Zennie 0 #2 October 24, 2001 I fly a "regular" Sabre now. When I demo'd the Sabre2 I asked the PD folks whether I needed to roll/stuff the nose and they said no.So I cleared the lines, quartered the slider, rolled the tail and pro packed it. The person who used it after me is still alive and has a back so I guess it opened OK for them. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper." Bricki 0 #3 October 24, 2001 I had demo'd a 170 and 150 sqft Sabre2 and packed both in the same way as my former Quadra (some Sabre clone).I stuffed the nose and did a common pro pack. The result was that the 150 Sabre2 took around 1200 feet for opening. This canopy performs really soft openings!I guess that even if you don't stuff the nose, this canopy will give you some gently openings. Maybe I can tell you more next week after one week jumping in Portugal (I'm from germany).Possible that this demo canopy, which I'll take with me, is my next one.Take carePeter
flyboy62000 0 #4 October 25, 2001 The Sabre2 is designed for soft openings without any special treatment. Pack it like the other newer PD designs (Stiletto, Spectre, etc.) PRO pack it, quarter the slider, and leave the nose alone. I like to roll the tail just to make the cocoon neater and easier to fold.Blue Skies,Adam
Aviatrr 0 #5 October 26, 2001 Packing technique? What are you talking about? I drop mine in the packing hangar, come back 20 minutes later, and it's packed.. Naw, seriously...On my Sabre2, I just flake it, quarter the slider, and leave the nose alone.. I've been experimenting with it(only have 50 jumps or so on it), and packing it different ways to see how the opening is.....so far, my preferred method is quartering the slider, but NOT pulling it way out in front of the nose, and letting the nose hang.. It produces soft, on heading, 600-700ft openings.. I don't like those 1200ft openings when I'm pulling at 2000-2500.. If you want a long, slow, soft opening - quarter the slider, pull it way out in front, and push the nose back into the packjob.. You'll have 900-1200ft openings..Mike
