mjosparky 4 #1 January 9, 2007 I have a very limited knowledge about computers so take this for its worth. DZ.com seems to be loading and changing pages real slow. I do not know if it is my computer or the web site. Other sites I visit seem to be ok. MichaelMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
AggieDave 6 #2 January 9, 2007 I haven't experienced any problems, but that doesn't mean that you're not. Slow page loads can come down to a variety of issues. Firstly, check your disk space, is your main HD nearly full? Whens the last time you dumped your chache? Do you have any other intensive programs running? How's your system usage in terms of RAM? Have you tried a tracert to see if you're getting a bad hop? A gigaswitch may have gone down sometime today, which would mean routing all other traffic through one of the others. That slows things down. So it comes down to the physical location of the servers that are running the webpage you're going to. So another site that may not route through that switch will load faster. For instance the servers for DZ.com used to be in San Antonio. If the Dallas switch took a dump it would effect you, but it may not effect me.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." JohnRich 4 #4 January 9, 2007 Sometimes those temporary slow-downs are simply just a large e-mail being received at the same time that you are web browsing. The two things "fight" for the transmission bandwidth, and slow each other down. Once the e-mail receipt is completed, web browsing goes back to normal.
