PhreeZone 20 #1 May 23, 2005 I recently tried to access the Incidents fourm not logged in and it let me. I know a while ago it used to take a valid and logged in ID to access it, is this still no whats to be happening or has the general access been given?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
JohnRich 4 #2 May 23, 2005 Had you been signed on earlier, and exited the web site without a formal logout? I know that if you do the above, you remain logged on for quite a while, before an inactivity time-out automatically logs you off. If you go back to the web site before that time-out logoff, it will put you right back into your previous logon session. So you can still be logged on, without actually formally logging on again. AggieDave 6 #3 May 23, 2005 I just did a formal logout and I was able to access the Incidents forum as a guest.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

AggieDave 6 #5 May 23, 2005 Ok, but why even give a passing access to the forum list to those not logged in? It gives reporters a start, right?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
sangiro 26 #6 May 23, 2005 QuoteIt gives reporters a start, right? They can get that by simply registering. You'll never keep reporters out of the forum in this way and that was never the intention either. You can keep search crawlers away from the content and you force people to at least provide some information (an email address, and an IP address) before they can browse that forum. To "keep reporters out" you'll have to do a lot more. It's not like they're stupid you know... Don't make too much of that little barrier to entry.Safe swoops Sangiro
