JohnRich 4 #1 September 29, 2004 Something has changed within the last week or so which causes the home page to now be too large to fit within my web browser screen size. The result, as shown by the attached image, is that the login fields are off the right side of the screen, and I have to scroll over to get to them. Now, this isn't a big deal, but it's something I didn't used to have to do - everything used to fit nicely in one screen. So what's up with this? Is it going to stay this way? I'd prefer to have everything fit on the screen, without having to scroll left and right...
AggieDave 6 #2 September 29, 2004 I'm assuming you have your browser window fully maximized, right? Sounds like you need to get past 800x600 on your resolution. Generally speaking web design is moving on to 1024x764 and beyond.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
JohnRich 4 #3 September 30, 2004 I use Netscape. Window is maximized. View, Text Zoom = 100%. Do others see the home page the same way as me? If not, then maybe I accidentally clicked something on my browser setup... But all my other DZ.com pages display normally. I only get this phenomenon on the home page. AggieDave 6 #4 September 30, 2004 Whats your screen resolution being used in Windows?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
JohnRich 4 #5 September 30, 2004 It is 800 x 600. When I increase it, it does solve the problem and make the home page fit on the screen, but it does so by shrinking everything down to tiny little text. And my old eyes don't like that tiny text. I'm going back to 800 x 600.
AggieDave 6 #6 September 30, 2004 Try this then: Change to a higher resolution, then click on the Advanced button under Setting in your display properties. You can try increasing the DPI number which would increase the size of the fonts and such on your screen to compensate. If you have a scroll wheel you can increase font sizes in your browser by holding Ctrl+scrolling the mouse wheel.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jceman 1 #7 October 8, 2004 This just happened to me today, and it has nothing to do with page size, font size or resolution, as none of that has changed on my computer. There seems to be a glitch in the script for the home page, because the header and footer are still in their same size; even when maximizing the window, there is white space to the right of them. The rightmost column (headed by the sign-on or welcome box) is displayed outside the bounds set by the header/footer. This does not seem to occur on any other page. sangiro 26 #8 October 8, 2004 That's me working on stuff. It should be gone again. I had 3 images next to each other that was together more than the designed-for screen size...Safe swoops Sangiro
