I can write a pretty simple machine learning algorithm that will crack it. Different forms of captcha and human/machine testing are needed.
ianyapxw 0 #3 March 24, 2014 I'm curious, but how can machine learning crack CAPTCHAs? They change everytime you enter a wrong response right? I thought spammers have to manually enter the CAPTCHA though the bot does the rest?
Meso 38 #4 March 24, 2014 Bots can indeed learn how to crack captchas. There are algorithms where code is able to recognize objects based on the pixel structure. This can be seen on Facebook for example, where the computer has been taught to recognize faces. So similarly, the computer just has to learn that if the pixels look similar to what would usually be an A for example, to then input A into the text field. There are a few methods that be used to crack captchas, but they can definitely be cracked by bots (unfortunately). And as a new method comes out that makes it harder, there's always someone trying to find a way to crack it.
ianyapxw 0 #5 March 24, 2014 Thanks for the explanation. Maybe we can do simple math problems in CAPTCHAs? I don't think these guys that spam our forums will be motivated enough to use a different cracking algorithm that what is commonly used.
BIGUN 1,456 #6 March 24, 2014 Would I be wrong in thinking that we are on the verge of a triple identification validation. i.e., Alphabetic + Pic + mathematical? (where pic might be equal to color or something?)Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
Baksteen 84 #7 March 24, 2014 Well, I'm glad I already have an account.. I usually have a helluva time reading those damn captcha crazy fonts - and audio doesn;t help much either."That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
