AirWhore 0 #4 February 6, 2008 Your missing my point... Why should i have to do anything more than position my cursor over GSD and click? This is a skydiving website not the other way around. Not that i am at all that put off by actually having to scroll down to get to the skydiving discussions, it's just that doesn't make any sense. You want to sell more brand name stuff at the grocery store? Then you put the product at eye level and put the generic stuff on the top shelf or the bottom. Same principle applies here *stomps foot on ground and looks directly at HH* If you are disgruntled about maybe losing viewers=advertising dollars because of what filth and expletives they might see in the bonfire then put it down the list some where so when newbies or wuffo, or perspective tandem. come to the site for the first time instead of the bonfire being the first thing they see they see the GSD and go there first. just my .02 it's worth what you paid for it and i'm an expert at it... BGill 0 #5 February 6, 2008 FYI, the "Campground" of rockclimbing.com is near the bottom of the forums list and same with the "Hangout" of basejumper.com. I too would like to see the non-skydiving related Community stuff further down on the list, with the skydiving disciplines and stuff further up. While I agree with your intent, I also understand that the most popular forum is at the top. What's the big deal with minimizing the communities forums? You only have to do it once, not every time you visit the forums. One click and you never have to see them again. Because I like to edit: This isn't so much a skydiving website as it is a forum for skydivers to chat... it turns out that most of the people reading the forums prefer to gather around the Bonfire thread and bullshit.Owned by Remi #? BGill 0 #7 February 7, 2008 Quote This isn't so much a skydiving website as it is a forum for skydivers to chat... it turns out that most of the people reading the forums prefer to gather around the Bonfire thread and bullshit. I think that is partially because the Bonfire is listed at the top. The average joe is lazy and clicks on the first thing, which happens to be Bonfire. They then get stuck in all the chitchat over there and forget why they came here in the first place. Put Bonfire down at the bottom and then they realize while looking for it "Hmm, I wonder what's going on in General Skydiving or over in Freeflying... there's a lot of unviewed threads in there, let's have a peek." Then you get more people viewing the other (and actually useful) forums.
BIGUN 1,476 #8 February 7, 2008 Prior to changing my username to Bigun from Nightjumps made the same suggestion in June 2004: QuoteWonder if placing the "Skydiving" Header and subthreads on the main forums page first, rather than "Community" and subthreads would prioritize (left to right, top to bottom) the focus of the website on skydiving. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1117349;#1117349 Just bring it up because it was at a time of a similar phase in Talkback... Perhaps just changing the Bonfire thread description to... Sit back, relax and chat with fellow skydivers! This is the place for non-skydiving related discussions like what's going on in your world, jokes, staying in touch, etc. Please review and remember the Forum Rules and appreciate the Moderators will ensure they are complied with so everyone can enjoy Bonfire. Politics, guns, religion and other sociological debates should be taken to the Speakers Corner, please.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
