NickDG 23 #1 July 25, 2005 Sometimes I see an errant word, a wrongly placed thought, or even a comma in the wrong place days later in something I've posted. Why can't I edit forever? There's probably a good technical reason, but for those of us it matters to, and if we accept the things we write here could be available forever, it's kind of important . . . sangiro 26 #2 July 25, 2005 Nick, There's a point at which you need to cast what someone has written and let them stand by it. The problem with being able to edit forever is that people can come back many many moons after they made a post, edit it and change the context of the entire post or cause the string of 50 replies to look and feel out of context. This would also be a loophole to come back and delete content (just edit it to an empty post) causing even more orphaned gibberish. You have to lock it in at some point. 6 hours is what you have to "proof" your writing and I think that's a reasonable time to add that extra comma.
