MWGemini 0 #1 February 13, 2005 Something that I've seen a lot of is people referencing other threads (often multiple threads) in their post. When looking at the URL by mousing over the link, it is impossible to tell where that thread is located, and what the thread title is. I know that it would take a tremendous amount of work on HH's part, but it would be nice if the URLs of threads actually reflected at least the location of the thread (i.e. ?general ?events ?bonfire, etc) and having the name of the thread (?name="First rig questions") in the URL would be especially nice. Thanks, Mike
mnealtx 0 #2 February 13, 2005 That capability is already there - the user just has to change the "standard" url handling and put a descriptive link in....Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
MWGemini 0 #3 February 16, 2005 I don't mean naming a url in the post, I'm saying make the ACTUAL URL of EVERY post more descriptive as to it's location. I can post examples if that doesn't make sense. Mike
pilotdave 0 #4 February 16, 2005 I like the idea... I actually implemented the same idea on my skydivingmovies.com test site (to show the filename in the url instead of just the file ID), but decided it just made URLs needlessly long and might cause some link problems, especially in email. I think a previous version of these forums did have that feature... I have seen referrer pages to my site from here in a different format, that includes the thread title in some way. Sangiro? Edit: here's an example: http://www.dropzone.com/forum/General_C4/Talk_Back_F1/new_videos_on_skydivingmovies.com_P350313/ Edit2: Hmmm... still works. Here's this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/forum/Dropzone.com_C2/Suggestions_and_Feedback_F3/More_descriptive_link_URLs_P1481079/ Dave
