Deleted 0 #1 March 21, 2003 This site disappointed me greatly. I was told about it last weekend after I graduated. I was looking over the furoms and came across pornography without any warning at all. my 8 year old son and 12 year old daughter were reading the site with me too. I won't bee back. This is against the law. You need disclamers and warnings about pornagraphy.
AggieDave 6 #2 March 21, 2003 Threads with questionable content are more often then not marked with NSFW. Think of this site as a virtual Dropzone (that's what it is). Infact, quite a few people call this their home DZ. A DZ isn't exactly a morally safe place for kids at the end of the day, there's drinking, there's smoking, cursing, flirting, nudity, etc. That's Talkback. There's also serious discussion, about gear, about rigging, about safety, about training, about freeflying, RW, Wingsuits, etc. That's the rest of the boards. I'm very sorry that your children, while surfing the net with you, saw questionable material, but it is in no way against the law.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skymama 37 #3 March 21, 2003 I truly hope that you don't give up on the site so quickly. There are so many ways to learn from dropzone.com other than reading the Talkback forum. Whether it be buying and selling gear, reading about safety, finding dropzones, or meeting new people to jump with, this site has more information on it about skydiving than any other on the internet. I had a reserve ride last weekend. I can honestly say that there was some information I read about and learned from on this site that I think contributed to me being able to react and recover from the situation very quickly. There is a wealth of knowledge here that you could learn from and would help make you a better and safer skydiver. That said, you do bring up a good point about the pornography. I'd like to make a suggestion that since it is found only in one forum, I think there could be a warning on the forum title. Maybe something like, "some material may be unsuitable for children under 18." nacmacfeegle 0 #4 March 21, 2003 I've never seen anything here that I couldn't see on page three of our daily papers (UK). Well, apart from that butterfly thing, and that camel toed Elvis......I'm still getting therapy for that one! If you click on a thread titled Boobies, don't be disappointed if its not about ornithology. If you click on an attachment titled massiveboobies17, or barelylegal12, don't be surprised if its of an adult nature. So don't go clicking on them. Putting an NSFW is okay and seems to work in my opinion. I'd be more concerned by some the topics being discussed, and the flowery language often employed.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. wmw999 2,589 #5 March 21, 2003 Quotethe flowery language often employed. You casting aspersions on my means of expression??? Huh??? c'mere, you! That said, the suggestion that the intro to Talkback mention that some threads are more adult is a good one, and easy to implement. Nothing will keep kids from clicking on it, but it might keep adults from clicking on it when kids are with them. Muenkel 0 #6 March 21, 2003 I think that is a great idea to have in the description of Talk Back that it may contain material not suitable for children under 18. Let's be honest, Talk Back can get pretty crude in language as well as pics. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

FallRate 0 #8 March 23, 2003 I wasn't aware that there was any pornopgraphy on this site. There are pics of naked individuals, but a nude is not pornographic. FallRate
