profile graphics

Recommended Posts

Ok, I found some really cute animation gifs while wandering around on the net.But when I go to change the image in my profile...it wont. Even though it says the change has been successful, it still shows the same old icon on all my posts. I am obviously an idiot on a computer.:S Also, how can I shrink an image to fit the attachment limit? Can anyone help me?[:/]

Your old pic comes from the browser-cache. Since your new pic-file has the same name as the previous one, your browser won't bother to reload it unless you tell it to. I think with IE you can do this by holding down shift or control(can't remember, try both) and clicking "reload". With Opera you could just right-click the image and choose "reload image".

With your favorite image-manipulation program! Such as Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, etc... They all have a "resize"-function somewhere.

Like I said, you need an image manipulation program. Do you have one? Photoshop? PaintshopPro? Corel? Something else?
What operating system are you using(assuming Windows, but which one?)?

Oh wait. You don't want to resize animated GIF:s now do you? That's going to be tricky...

Resizing other images (like jpegs) is easier:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
click "Start"--> "Programs" -->"Accessories" --"Paint"

Open the picture you want to resize.

Open the "Image"-menu and click on "Stretch/skew"
(The terms might be a bit off since I'm running the Finnish version of Windows)

Enter the new size in percentages and click ok

Save.
