About 10 birds have whispered into my ear that the Perris tunnel is closing down and the staff are unemployed for daily flying... They are going to staff it only for special occasions and camps, but it will not be open on a daily basis... I could not confirm on the Perris website, however the link to the prices page gives you a blank page at this point. So, is this tunnel now just a "boggie" tunnel, like aircraft are sometimes reserved for special occasions???

I would say that until it comes from the Conaster family it should be treated as a rumor.

I cannot confirm yet but have heard the same thing. Kind of fly by "appointment only" Not sure how that's going to work. I used to work there and left about 1 year ago so I won't comment further but they have lost a lot of staff recently.

No sign of that happening from our perspective. We were in there yesterday, and have tunnel time next weekend as well.

That's a brand new website thing; it doesn't work yet.

Cool... I am glad... I just heard the rumor from a few different unrelated people from different parts of the country, so it spread quickly... I would not have asked the question if only one person told me it.

It's amazing how fast word spreads. I heard from someone at SVAZ that they actually had closed. So glad to hear it's a rumor. I'm happy I can now tell the FA LV guys that it was all just gossip.

Wow, why didn't you just ask me, since I'm in SoCal, Paige? These rumours have been going on for a while now, but I've heard rumours about all of the tunnels, all of the DZs and all of the boogies. I try not to listen to gossip, especially when it's someone who claims to have inside info. It's usually not accurate.

The rumors are still flying and some have stated that Dan doesn't run the tunnel. That may very well be, however I do believe that he knows what is going on at PVSD in all aspects.
Since Dan dispelled the rumor directly with me that is what I am going with.

It was really strange and sad to hear someone say Perris closed today (last Friday). Still so glad it was just the rumor mill. It seemed a bit far fetched but hearing it from multiple people who I thought were in the know was unsettling. I haven't flown Perris yet, doesn't it know I have to fly it before it closes?!?

Well, we're still working tonight at the tunnel, so I don't think we're closed. We're hoping to continue running for a long time. Keep the faith, everyone. There have been dozens of rumors and I'm sure it is difficult to determine which ones are true and which ones are just rumors.

We will try to keep you all posted on what the truth is.....as quickly as we know.

I was there this past Thursday. If they are closing the facility, there is no outward indication of it. In fact, the evidence suggests otherwise. The instrutors had just gone through a training session. I had a very positive experience while I was there and some great instruction. So, thanks Steven and others. Keep up the good work.
