Orange1 0 #1 February 26, 2006 I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I've done a search and not found anything I know you shouldn't fly in a tunnel while injured but it seems to make sense to me that some time after breaking a bone and before a doc will clear you for jumping (where they seem more concerned about landing), you should be able to tunnel fly. Does anyone have some idea? We don't have any tunnels here so I am unlikely to find a doctor here who knows... (I was thinking that before I get back in the sky it might be worthwhile doing a tunnel trip somewhere to refresh flying skills)Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. Paige 0 #2 February 26, 2006 I broke my hip and started flying in the tunnel before I was jumping. I found it to be great but expensive rehab for my hip. I was lucky enough to have a docotor who has pieced together at least 3 other skydivers I know. He had a clue and knew I'd jump again which made it easier for him to determine when tunnel flying and/or skydiving would be alright. Each injury is different and we here on dz.com are in no way qualified to give you advice on when to start tunnel flying. Check w. your doctor and explain to him what it is, resistance w. no impact. scotts 0 #3 February 26, 2006 Two years ago I had a mid air collision that resulted in multiple injuries. One of which was a fractured left shoulder. Mobility was limited and very painful. I needed to know that I would be able to jump again and decided that the tunnel would be the best/safest place to find out. So last year I spent an hour in the tunnel and everything worked out as well as I could've hoped for. What a relief. Going to the tunnel was one of the smarter things I've done. For me, any serious injuries require some major time off to heal. Nothing worse than reinjuring something that still hurts or isn't fully healed.
