calledisrael 0 #1 March 22, 2005 (note:i am an aff student about to do my level 7.) with the approval of my oh-so-wise instructors, i am about to go down and try out a little tunnel time this weekend. my main problem is being able to regain/maintain heading control, especially coming out of tracking or rolls/flips. in other words, i can get stable on my belly - i just sometimes slowly spin and can't stop it and just stay on heading. i know there will be a tunnel coach to help me, but i wondered if anyone else had any thoughts for me to dwell on about this before i went out. i am a little dubious about flying inside rather than in the sky... but we'll see. life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all. diablopilot 2 #2 March 22, 2005 Often times that unwanted turn is simply your torso not being straight. It can get worse when you try to force your self "around the corner" trying to stop it. Often people shift or scrunch one side of their body in an effort to maintain the heading. Try flying your whole body to a heading, instead of turning your head and shoulders to it. If possible look at video of what's going on.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
Mayberry 0 #3 March 23, 2005 Quotei am a little dubious about flying inside rather than in the sky... but we'll see. I'm just learning myself & this is just my opinion, but from one "newbie" to another, you're gonna love the tunnel!! A few weeks ago I did 30 minutes with Sally down in Orlando, best money I've spent skydiving so far. I still have a long way to go & a lot to learn but it REALLY helped me. In the tunnel you don't have to worry about altitude, canopy malfunctions, landing out, etc. Just flying yourself. I wouldn't "dwell" on anything, just tell your instructor what you've told us & let them tell you where & how to make the necessary adjustments. You hear it on here all the time...."Listen to your instructor". Oh--and have fun!! DonDon Here's to friends!
Paige 0 #4 March 23, 2005 Where are you doing your tunnel time? The tunnel rats there will be able to help you out. Take a video or note of what your flying/problems are/is like. They will definately go over all you need to know to practice heading control in the tunnel. You'll be surprised how hard it can be. I was a laugh at your state i the game when i was in the tunnel. I always say if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at? I get the best laughs out of myself, esp. watchin the videos today!Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
