Tandem Line Over?

Recommended Posts

Yup, lineover. It happens and it clears on its own sometimes. Although I had one clear the wrong way a few years ago, so I had a line going around the canopy...yeah it got chopped.

Nice pics. Yup, nice lineover. It's pretty deep, the TI did good to clear it. Or did you mean that they landed with the lineover still in place? In that case, DAMN!

I had a really small one clear on it's own for me a while back. After deployment I'm "checking the corners" and see an itty-bitty lineover. As I'm reaching up to see if I can clear it, I hear a little zzzzzzip-pop! and it cleared on it's own. Take a deep breath, release the brakes, do the control check, and continue the skydive as normal.

I almost chopped a T the other day. Tension knots in all the left side A-B lines, slider hung up. Couple of pumps on the toggels, no effect. Told Brooke, the passenger, on her 2nd tandem, BTW, to hang her feet, head back, yada yada, 'cause we had to chop. She was sooo cool with it all, just said "okay." I let go of the toggles, grab the handles, looked up one last time . . . and it cleared!:)

When I got down, she told her friends that we almost had to use the reserve, just like the first time she went.:o:D:D

Don't know what it was about that girl but she tipped me $20.B|

BTW, great canopy pics.;)

No :o, they did not land with the line over. I guess it cleared on it's own, the TM did not mention it and the canopy looked OK just before I turned.

Line-overs are far more common than skydivers are willing to admit.
Most of the time, they clear themselves during opening or when you release the brakes.
Few skydivers even realize that they suffered line-overs ... until a rigger bills them for patches to the (burnt) top skin.

Stall the canopy and a bit of good luck might save the day. Helped me last year in clearing a tandem line-over. Bad for the videoman, good for me
Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid.
