tsalnukt 1 #26 February 21, 2007 I can't tell you how many people have said the they didn't want to go....and went.... and everyone of them has thanked me for pushing it and taking them. Have you ridden the plane down a lot? If they are holding seat belts and clawing at the walls that's a diffrent story. Besides.....when the door is open and all the noise and everything, no, sounds just like go. "I don't wanna go" sounds like "Geronimo!!!"
feuergnom 29 #27 February 22, 2007 QuoteHave you ridden the plane down a lot? as my career as a TI started last year, the answer would be: none so far. but as a vidiot i have seen my fair share of pax' that weren't enjoying their ride Quotewhen the door is open and all the noise and everything, no, sounds just like go. thats what I use to tell the nervous ones The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver #
tqsmile 0 #28 February 22, 2007 When i was in the States I had a student with a couple of friends to do tandems. On the ground he was loud and the man.Had statements like I want the extreme version. In the plane he got quiet and on run in started shouting no no no and sttarted grabbing at me.He nearly pulled my goggles off.I however asked him if he was cool to jump and screamed at me **** no no no. I landed with him in the plane.Would not have taken him.I have had some that say no but are calm enough and I peruade them to go.It depends on the passangers attitude,no sometimes sounds like go.One thing though, safety comes first.TQ I am me and you are you, so deal with it!!! www.skydivepe.com
mfrese 0 #29 February 22, 2007 Interesting reading some of these responses. Truth is, I've ridden the plane down with students 5 times, and not a one of them actually "freaked out", they were just too scared or overloaded to go. I won't attempt to force someone out the door, I love this sport more than I can express, and I don't want to cheapen someone's first experience of it by making them do something they're not physically and mentally prepared for. It truly sucks to ride the plan down after those, mainly because they tend to feel like shit about it. But I think we need to be very careful as representatives of the sport to make sure we do the best job we can of prepping people, and making sure they walk away from the whole tandem experience going "That was awesome, I can't wait to go again!" rather than "Holy shit, that was scary, never again!" I think there are many reasons why we're losing skydivers nowadays, but one of the big ones is people feeling like they're just along for the ride. It takes a much greater physical and emotional effort on the TI's part to help some of these people experience a skydive in a positive way, but I think it pays off for the sport in the long run. Or, I may just be a lazy old fat guy who doesn't like to be rushed anymore... I was able to kick his legs forward and stand it up. The pic is priceless! LOOOL ;P gj
PWScottIV 0 #31 March 27, 2007 Quotewow I didn't even think to asked have you ever had someone pass out. We had a guy pass out last weekend. He was totally out when he got to the ground and just slumped over in front of the TI... Thankfully it was fairly windy, so they had minimal/no forward speed at touchdown.Gravity Waits for No One.
