riggerrob 643 #1 October 18, 2005 How long do your tandem mains last? I remember F-111 tandem mains lasting about 2 line sets (600 jumps) in the Southern California desert. Now we have a 1200+ SET 400 in Pitt Meadows. It has been through 3 or four line sets and only now is flare performance starting to suffer. I realize that canopies landed on grass last far longer than canopies landed in salty desert soil. We also know that F-111 canopies are useless after a thousand jumps, but what about hybrid or all ZP canopies?
RMURRAY 1 #2 October 18, 2005 I am not a TM but am interested, which tandem mains are hybrid, which ones are all ZP, which ones are all F111? rm

skydiverton 0 #4 October 19, 2005 A SET400 is a licence built BT80 (Notice the triple end-cels) If the SET is like the BT80 100% ZePo it can last very long. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
camamel 0 #5 October 19, 2005 I start dooing tandem in 85. Back then a 360 main (Hi lifter) was probably not as good, even on his first landing, as a Sygma 370 full zero P even after 2000 jumps. I think roughly that F 111 main are good for 1000 jumps. Zero P top skin main like the PD EZ 384 are good for 1500 jumps, and a full zero P canopy like PD Sygma 370 should last 2000 jumps. Even lines and control lines are more durable now than 5 years ago. Those numbers are good if you jump in a regular environement. The tripple S ( sand, salt & sun) can lower those numbers. When you think you're good...this is when you become dangerous.

All tandem reserves are still only F-111. EZ-384 is hybred. SET-400 has F-111 ribs, but ZP top and bottom skins Firebolts have ZP top skins, but the rest is F-
